Jameson Donated Money To Neighborhood Bartenders

Measures are being taken in response to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, and many bars and restaurants have closed for the safety of their staff and patrons. Obviously, no holiday affects neighborhood bartenders more than St. Patrick’s Day, and yesterday Jameson Irish Whiskey decided they wanted to do something about that.

The Irish whiskey brand is a staple of the holiday, and in light of what has been going on, they wanted to give back to the people who support them the most—neighborhood bartenders. Jameson tweeted an announcement yesterday, saying that they wanted to keep the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day alive even though celebrations looked a little bit different this year.

The announcement went on to explain the brand will be donating $500,000 to support the United States Bartender’s Guild, a charity that fosters community and empowerment between professional bartenders. “We know that there may be some hard roads ahead for members in this community,” Jameson wrote.

The United States Bartender’s Guild (whose mantra is “serve those that serve us”) is currently accepting donations in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the closing of many local restaurants across the nation. Those who have lost their jobs and need emergency financial assistance can apply for a grant through the organization on their website.

Jameson finished off their open letter with a heartfelt message to the bartenders who serve their products on a daily basis: “You’ve always had our backs, and we promise to always have yours.”
