The news around the COVID-19 outbreak is constantly changing, but information about food safety and how to keep yourself healthy is crucial right now. Here is a comprehensive list on the foods you should be stocking up on during this period of social distancing, as well as information about your local grocery stores’ changing hours, an explanation of “no-contact delivery,” and a guide on how to help your community and its businesses throughout closures.

Jon Bon Jovi’s non-profit restaurant Soul Kitchen always makes food available to those in need, but now it’s offering to-go meals to keep people safe and healthy amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

In case you’re not familiar with the Soul Kitchen’s format, people can go in and make a suggested donation to eat there to help pay for the cost of food and for people who cannot pay. You can also volunteer in the kitchen in order to help “pay” for your meal.

But because of the coronavirus outbreak, the restaurant is not currently accepting new volunteers, according to The Today Show, so it’s pivoting to offering to-go-only service and only for people who need it.

Because they are not accepting new volunteers, even the restaurant’s famous owner has pitched in to help. Soul Kitchen recently posted a photo of Jon in the kitchen washing dishes with the caption “If you can’t do what you do…do what you can!”

They also posted a photos of some to-go orders, assuring the community “If you are unsure where your next meal is coming from – we are here for you and your family 💛 We’ll get through this together!”

The restaurant is also offering a more limited menus and hours, which you can read more about here. They are also assessing food supplies each day so be sure to check social media for updates.

In addition to offering food, the restaurant also posted some important resources for families in need including numbers for help relating to domestic violence, mental health struggles and more, which you can access here.
