It’s a popular notion that if you want to get the taste of authentic Indian food, visit a dhaba. There’s something about dhaba food that just can’t be replicated in any fancy restaurant. The authenticity, the depth of flavours, the traditional essence – you gets it all in a rustic dhaba. You can find a dhaba in various streets and highways in our country. While they don’t boast of expansive menu like restaurants, we are happy just to try out just anything from their limited menu. One thing you’ll find in menu of each and every dhaba, especially in north India, is – dal dhaba.

Dal dhaba or dhabe wali dal is a preparation of black urad dal, suffused with a bout of flavours from our common Indian spices. The dal is made tastier with oodles of butter and cream topping it. Dal dhaba is mostly paired with tandoori roti, naan, or jeera rice that you get in these dhabas. Are you salivating, already? We bet, you are!
