A London bakery is making “isolation cakes” that are frosted and decorated to perfection. If this wasn’t convincing you enough to buy one, you should know that the bakery is totally Meghan Markle-approved.
Back in August, Meghan was gifted a gorgeous carrot cake from Luminary Bakery for her birthday. Luminary has two locations in the London area, and the bakery is all about sending a message of female empowerment.
The bakery has a mission of serving women who have been negatively impacted by poverty, violence, and other socioeconomic struggles. Luminary teaches women how to bake and how to run a business, as well as employs them to work in their kitchen and wait-staff. Meghan loves Luminary’s mission so much, that she included them in the “Forces of Change” edition of British Vogue that she guest-edited.
Currently, due to COVID-19 concerns, Luminary is only fulfilling delivery and takeout orders that can be placed online. To help bring joy to those who are staying inside, the bakery is making beautiful “isolation cakes” that can be purchased for takeout or delivery. You can also order one of the cakes and get it sent to a friend’s house to show them you’re thinking of them.
The cakes come in a ton of flavors to choose from, like lemon and blueberry, chocolate and berry, sticky toffee, carrot, salted caramel and chocolate, and Victoria sponge. There are also gluten-free and vegan options available. Once you decide on a flavor, you can choose from four fun and sweet sayings: “Isolation Cake,” “Netflix & Isolation,” “We’ll Get Through This,” or “Thinking of You.”
Each cake comes iced with the message of your choosing as well as with decorations like candied fruits and berries and other garnishes. You can choose to get the cake delivered within 10 miles from the bakery for an additional fee and the bakery ensures that every delivery uses the least amount of human contact as possible.
