Emilia Clarke is asking people to raise money for a good cause. Out of those who donate, 12 will be randomly selected to have a virtual dinner with the Mother of Dragons herself.
Emilia started her charity SameYou after she suffered two brain aneurysms while filming Game of Thrones. SameYou aims to provide rehabilitation to those who suffer from brain injuries, and its current initiative wants to help people recover from their brain injuries at home in order to clear up more hospital beds for coronavirus patients.
The actress posted a video on her Instagram account explaining the new initiative: “Due to the current frightening and ever changing coronavirus emergency please would you help me raise £250,000, by donating through the link in my bio, to provide stroke and brain injury patients with essential support!!,” she wrote. “This fund will also help in freeing up the hospital beds needed to deal with the pandemic, to care for those who also need a space to heal.”
To get yourself in the running for the virtual dinner party with Emilia, once you donate there will be a link that will lead to the random selection process. Those twelve people will then cook, eat dinner, and chat with Emilia, she explained in her Instagram video. “We will discuss lots of things—isolation and fear and also funny videos. And, you know, the fact that I can’t really cook. So it’s going to be fun.”
The funds will benefit Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Massachusetts and the University College London Hospital.
