Smeg’s New Toaster Is Perfect For Royal Enthusiasts
Let’s face it: As much as we would all love to wake up one morning and eat breakfast with Queen Elizabeth II, that probably won’t happen. The closest we’ll get to dining with anyone from the royal family is cooking their favorite dishes and using Smeg’s new British flag-inspired toaster.
The Italian appliance manufacturer released its two-slice toaster in a Union Jack theme, and all wannabe royals, royal enthusiasts, and Great Britain fans will obsess over it. The toaster features two extra-wide slots for all of your toasting needs. It has six browning levels (yes, there’s one specifically for bagels!) and three main settings that include heat, reheat, and defrost. Self-centering racks hold food upright for even browning. For easy cleaning, it has a removable stainless-steel crumb tray. Bonus: You can buy other accessories for it—like sandwich racks or bun warmers—if you want to get fancy.
The retro-style toaster is available at Williams Sonoma for $229.95. Later this summer, a matching electric tea kettle will be released to complete the breakfast appliance duo. Smeg already has a Union Jack refrigerator available, too. You could deck out your whole kitchen in British flag-themed appliances if you so desire.
IMO, making toast in an appliance that features the British flag is the next best thing to indulging in tea and biscuits with the Queen. Although, if Harry and Meghan are available, I’d take brunch with the ex-royals.
