Instagram Is Adding Buttons That Let You Order Food

The COVID-19 outbreak has hit the restaurant industry hard and many customers are looking for ways to give back to their favorite local spots. Instagram just made it one step easier by implementing buttons and stickers to help support restaurants and bars with one click.

In a post on their blog first reported on by Food & Wine, Instagram announced that starting today, the platform will be rolling out gift card, food order, and fundraiser stickers that businesses can easily add to their Stories and on their profiles.

If you add a fundraiser button to your profile or story, it will redirect users to Facebook—more specifically, to a Facebook fundraiser created by business owners or their supporters. This can be created any time. That option will be available on Instagram in the coming days, while the option to add “order” and “gift card” buttons should be available in the U.S. and Canada starting today. It should be available globally soon, according to the post.

Additionally, customers will be able to re-share the stickers in their own stories to help spread the word. This is a perfect time to follow all your favorite local spots on Instagram and help others discover them too. Who wouldn’t want more delicious food in their feeds?

In addition to ordering gift cards and donating directly to restaurants, you can also help the industry in other ways like donating to relief funds and buying merch. You can learn more about giving back here.
