Prince Harry And Meghan Host Goodbye Lunch For Royal Staff
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hosted a farewell lunch for their royal staffers during their last visit under royal duties to the United Kingdom. The lunch was help at the Goring Hotel in London and it is said that the 15 staff members who reported directly to the Sussexes were in attendance.
A source close to the royals told Page Six that while Harry and Meghan told their staff they were closing their Buckingham Palace office months ago when news broke that they were moving to North America, and that they hosted this lunch to bid a proper goodbye.
“They’ve all been through so much together and the staff have been working around the clock to make sure this last visit was as seamless as possible. Meghan and Harry really wanted to show their appreciation, they know how hard everyone has worked,” the source said.
This isn’t the first time Harry and Meghan put together something special to show their appreciation for their staff.
“Harry and Meghan have often done fun things like throwing pizza parties or hiring ice cream trucks for their staff, but they wanted to do something special going into this last week together,” the source told Page Six: “They toasted the team and thanked them for everything they have done. Some of the staffers cried.”
The couple’s final scheduled public appearance as royals took place this past Monday, with the two attending Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey. After their duties are complete, the couple will head back to Canada with baby Archie and try to live a quieter life outside of the royal spotlight.
