The news around the COVID-19 outbreak is constantly changing, but information about food safety and how to keep yourself healthy is crucial right now. Here is a comprehensive list on the foods you should be stocking up on during this period of social distancing, as well as information about your local grocery stores’ changing hours, an explanation of “no-contact delivery,” and a guide on how to help your community and its businesses throughout closures.

Restaurant Brands International, the company that owns Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Horton’s, is changing store policies while the COVID-19 outbreak continues. One of the steps the company is taking is distributing thermometers so restaurants can ensure employees are healthy before they start their shifts.

The CEO of Restaurant Brands International José Cil penned an open letter explaining all of the ways restaurants were responding to the pandemic. He noted that all three restaurant groups were zeroing in on five main areas of focus: RBI wants to support the health and well-being of its employees, enhance restaurant hygiene, continue to serve guests, provide help to restaurant owners, and give back to its communities.

To address these goals, employees across Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Horton’s restaurants will be given 14 days paid sick leave if they test positive for COVID-19 or if it is suggested by a restaurant manager or medical professional to self-isolate. The letter also explained that RBI is in the process of sending out 15,000 infrared thermometers to restaurant locations across the country.

Infrared thermometers are no-contact thermometers that can measure one’s temperature without touching their skin. These will be used on employees to make sure they’re healthy before they start work.

Restaurants are also being extra diligent about cleaning high-contact areas and having hand sanitizer readily available. Popeyes, Burger King, and Tim Horton’s are still offering drive-thru, pickup, and delivery orders to serve customers in the safest way possible.
